A bit of an update. At our last competition Terry Connelly won the Best in Show with her outstanding interpretation of Night at the Museum. A lot of work, that was certainly well worth her time, as those of us who were there to see it can attest. I know I keep saying it, but the quality of images that show up in our competitions is amazing. It is always a joy to see what members will come up with.
I want to thank Joel & Trisha for putting on another great field trip, this time to the Sonoma County Bird Rescue. I had never been there before, and for someone who loves shooting birds this was a real treat to get so close. After the outing most of us went to a great lunch at Goji Kitchen, where we had an opportunity to swap stories and generally get to know one another. This is one of the real benefits of the club, the opportunity to share ideas and knowledge with people of similar interests.
The upcoming competition on March 14th will be an excellent learning opportunity as our judges will be the Silverman’s our newest honorary members and all-around amazing photographers. We can look forward to excellent feedback on our images. I also want to let you know the club purchased a new calibration device to insure our club laptop is calibrated properly and, hopefully, we can get away from our occasional problem with overexposed images. I know we all put a lot of work into our images and to see them over exposed is very disappointing. As soon as I can arrange to get the laptop calibrated and the projector set up properly, we should see a nice difference.
Hopefully you all received an email about our upcoming program nights. There is a great deal of information coming our way to help us all improve our photography skills. You also should have received a save the date email about FotoClave 2019 being held at the Marriot Hotel in Pleasanton October 25-27, 2019. There are going to be some outstanding speakers and I don’t think you will want to miss it.
Lastly, I wanted to share with you an equipment update on what a well equipped photographer should carry when on a photo expedition. As you can see Juicy Fruit is essential to survival in all sorts of shooting situations. Please make sure you always carry yours.
That is it for now. I am sure I am forgetting something but I will endeavor to remember for the next update. See you on the 14th.
