About Ian Bornarth:
Ian has a long background in photography including a BS in Photography from the
Rochester Institute of Technology and an MFA in Photography from the Hartford Art
School. Additionally, he taught photography at a college level for 20 years at multiple
universities in both Connecticut and California. He has taught classes at all levels and a
wide variety of subjects including Portrait, journalism, studio, architecture and
Ian is a professional photographer creating travel, nature and landscape work for
corporate and personal spaces. He also creates work for use as stock photography.
Additionally, he creates documentary images for nature conservation projects.
Ian’s approach to judging looks for a balance between the technical and aesthetic
aspects that create a successful image based on the intent on the photographer and
the category being considered. He also has a constructive and educational approach
to responding to images.
