The Zoom portal opens at 6 pm and the meeting starts at 6:30.   Categories: Pictorial, Journalism, Creative, Monochrome, and Critique/Feedback

Biography:
Doug has been pursuing photography seriously for over forty years. He started as a contributor to his local newspaper when he was in high school. He is a member of the Photographic Society of America, the Fremont Photographic Society, and the Fremont
Art Association. He studied photography at the San Francisco Art Institute and is a member of the Board of Directors of PhotoAlliance. His photography has won awards at the local and regional levels and has been exhibited internationally. He created the website BayAreaPhotoScene.com, the definitive, searchable database of photography related events in the Bay Area. In addition to his interest in the aesthetic aspects of photography he brings a knowledge of the technical aspects of digital photography and image analysis from his work with Eastman Kodak and with Hewlett Packard.

Philosophy:
In stating his philosophy, Doug notes, “Humans have been creating images, for no other purpose than to share experiences, for at least 30,000 years. It may be the one thing that truly distinguishes us as a species. The only thing that matters in a photograph is the impact it has on the viewer. If your image has as great an impact as a Chauvet-Pont-d’Arc cave drawing, you have a great photograph. If a judge can help you achieve that by assisting you in developing your technique and vision, he or she has done their job.”
