Photo Competition with Mark Brueckman

“A work of Art is completed by the Viewer.” – Marcel Duchamp
Biography:
Mark Brueckman is a Bay Area-based photographer and an active member of the camera community. He learns by experimenting, attending webinars, watching educational videos, and attending analyses at camera club competitions and non-camera club photography critiques. Mark has completed the Northern California
Council of Camera Clubs (N4C) Judges Training Program and was mentored by three judges. Currently, he is a board member of the N4C and his local camera club. He writes a monthly column, Notable Photographers and Their Images for the N4C newsletter, Foto Fanfare.

Judging Philosophy:
A judge must be respectful of the artist’s image and vision – we are here to encourage and learn from each other. We all have some artistic, cultural and photographic preferences/biases. As much as possible, a judge must be aware of and manage these and not favor/dismiss specific subject matters or photographic approaches. An image tells a story – the components of that story are content, composition and title – to him,
the most compelling images are not only well crafted, but have originality and an engaging subject.
